Keepsake Terms of Service

Terms for using Keepsake, including the optional voice capture and card parsing API.

Last updated: June 28, 2026

Service

Keepsake is a local-first app for saving small everyday facts on your own device. The app does not require an account.

The app and API are provided by Elias Anderlohr, elch.cc. The public API is served from elch.cc.

The optional voice feature uploads spoken answers to the Keepsake API for transcription, then returns suggestions for your review.

Your responsibility

Voice capture and AI processing

Voice capture sends audio through the Keepsake API to Mistral AI SAS for speech-to-text and proposed card parsing. Typed, pasted, file, and OCR text captures send redacted text through the Keepsake API for proposed card parsing. Mistral AI SAS is located at 15 rue des Halles, 75001 Paris, France.

The API keeps uploaded audio only in server memory while the segment is being transcribed and parsed. It clears the server-side audio buffer immediately after processing, including failure paths. After the app finalizes a voice session and receives the merged card suggestions, the API deletes the server-side session, transcripts needed for review, and parsed candidate-card records.

Local storage and no app-level encryption

Saved cards, reminders, learned suggestions, settings, imports, and attached photos are stored locally on your device unless you choose to use voice capture, export, share, or delete them.

Keepsake does not add app-level encryption for saved local data. Local data is protected only by your device, operating system, backups, and any lock-screen or disk-protection settings you use.

Availability and limits

The service may apply session, upload, rate, and abuse limits. It may be changed, paused, or discontinued, including for maintenance, security, or operational reasons.

Keepsake is provided without a guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

Data protection

Details about what data is processed, where it is hosted, which providers are used, and how long server-side voice data is retained are available in the Privacy Policy / Data Protection page.
